Well, it looks like it’s been a very good Christmas for many small businesses operating in the online retail arena. According to Actinic, an eCommerce specialist, have claimed that online retailers saw a massive 51% increase in sales over the Seasonal period.
So, does this mark yet another landmark in the rise of the worldwide web? The ever increasing popularity of shopping online certainly indicates this.
However, having experienced first-hand the massive numbers of people still invading the high-street at Christmas and during the post-christmas sales rush I am hesitant to make such an outlandish statement.
Despite this the figures don’t lie – online sales are up massively and they continue to grow so there could well come a time when the stress of Christmas shopping for many of us starts to ease off. It will certainly be interesting to see what the new decade (the “Teens”) has in store for the next mutation of online retail.
