Top UK small business websites - according to me

As I’m sure you’re aware there are a large number of small business websites strewn across the expanse of the World Wide Web. Many of these sites offer useful, helpful information that is highly beneficial to small business owners and the self-employed.

There are about four websites that I constantly go to for more information, help or guidance. I suspect for many small business owners and self-employed people this is probably the case for you as well.

Now I’m not saying that these ARE the best ever small business websites on the internet but I like them:

1. Constructaquote.com

Constructaquote.com can offer a range of great quotes on public liability insurance, employers liability, professional indemnity and many more insurance products.

Not only does Constructaquote.com offer an excellent business insurance comparison tool but it also offers excellent, up-to-date business news, features and guides to keep you and your business stay up-to-the minute on the latest changes in the business world and help your company to constantly evolve and grow.

2. British Chambers of Commerce

The British Chambers of Commerce governs a national network of regional accredited Chambers of Commerce throughout the UK.

Their aim it to offer help, guidance and advice to any of it’s member small businesses as well as the wider community.

They offer:

  • Regular Business News and Press Releasese to keep their member’s updated.
  • Networking events around the country.
  • A range of courses from business development and marketing through to finance and communication.

The BCC also offer a range of other services, but I’ll let you take a look for yourself.

3. Federation of Small Business

The Federation of Small Business (FSB) is one of the UK’s largest small business groups that aims to promote
and protect the interests of small businesses and the self-employed around the country.

The FSB offer a range of services, including:

  • Legal advice
  • FSB conferences
  • Forums
  • Free Business Banking
  • Business help and advice

and a host of other superb benefits to it’s members – take a look for yourself.

4. Freshbusinessthinking.com

Freshbusinessthinking.com is a superb online resource for small business owners and self-employed people.
It not only delivers fresh business news on a daily basis but also offers valuable advice to help you run
your business more effectively.

They have cited themselves as a fountain of information from where you can draw what you need to help “drive your business forward.”

Take a look at some of these excellent sites:

  1. Excellent list! I would add: Business Link (although this is fading…) and HMRC possibly…
